The process of building our shop / garage continues to make progress! I recognize my limitations and work with them. I am afraid of heights so having Pam there to encourage me is so helpful! Yes, I did get up on the roof. The hard part is getting back on the ladder to come down.
I had to look twice at this picture. I hadn’t realized it was so overcast! Where are the blue skies of Colorado?
Winter and the holidays win. The shop / garage build is slowing way down. The temps are now dropping to around freezing with high’s at around 40 degrees. My goal was to get to the point of a completed dried-in building on the inspection process card. This picture does not show it, but Pam and I did get 1/4″ plywood attached to the soffit. The house wrap is on and the roof is covered. We upgraded to a synthetic cover instead of tar paper because we knew we will have to wait until Spring to put the metal up there. I still need to tape the house wrap and cut out for the windows.
I am in the process of building our own windows. This seemed reasonable and cost effective for savings as they are fixed windows (they don’t open). I am building the window frames out of cedar. The insulated glass was special ordered and has arrived. I am spinning my wheels on finding the right stain for cedar. I did a lot of research and thought I would use Ready Seal found at Home Depot. However, when I went to the Depot, they didn’t have it. They had one gallon of the wrong color. Not sure what’s up with that. So, back to the drawing board. I want to stain the frame prior to adding glass and installing it. I did have to apply for an extension on the building permit. We will need to finish by July 29th, 2017. I sure hope it doesn’t take that long!
